ON MY SHELF

I try to read a book a week. Life will easily take over if I don't make the effort to squeeze these in. I’m not a particularly fast reader, because I like to take in all the words and consider what the writer was trying to say. But I’m always better for finishing a book.

There’s an ongoing debate: should one finish every book? My opinion is that there are precious hours to read, so it's okay to let a few go - not every book is for every reader. It’s rare for me not to finish – by the point I have it in my hand, I feel committed.

I started logging every book I read about five years ago on a simple Word document. It’s satisfying to look back over the list and see how much I’ve broadened by mind. I encourage you to do the same. Below are some of my favorites, ones that stuck with me long after the last page. I hope you find something new to you. The books below link to a Bookshop.org affiliate page where my local Indie bookstore Monkey & Dog Books will both benefit and process your order.
