Thanks for stopping by my site...

Linda Paul is an author of upmarket and historical fiction. Her award-winning novel The Last Gypsy Queen will publish in April 2026. A former retail executive specializing in e-commerce, she’s traveled the world during her career, which provided a front-row seat to meet and work with people from all stations of life.

Though she’s lived in New York City and rural Ohio, the majority of her travels have brought her home to Texas where she lives with her husband, cavapoo, and two grown daughters nearby.

My Story

I was born and raised in rural Ohio, where, during elementary school, I would visit the bookmobile every Friday in the summer when it stopped on the corner. I can still close my eyes and smell the earthy, vanilla scent inside. This is where I first met nine-year-old Pippi Longstocking and travelled to her unconventional world. My eyes were opened by the biography of Helen Keller, and then Flowers for Algernon, which set me on a path of learning about people far different from me and who faced seemingly insurmountable challenges.

My love affair with books continued throughout college, when I filled my electives with English and writing courses. I even met my husband in one of them, but that’s a long story for another day. I worked in the college library, manning the computer system, for the kind little old ladies who were intimidated by it.

My work led me through a retail executive and university academic career in eCommerce, for years channeling my writing into thousands of non-fiction words in published articles, white papers, blog posts, website and social media content, and marketing materials. I traveled the world to twenty-two countries, creating and finding products, which provided a front-row seat to meet and work with thousands of people from all stations in life.

I’ve experienced all the highs and lows of demanding leadership roles, and in all of that busyness of a career and raising a family, I was never able to find the space and time to treat fiction writing as my professional focus. After I began my first novel over thirteen years ago, often while stuck in an airport or late at night, I was finally able to pursue becoming a serious writer in 2022.

I graduated with a B.S. from The Ohio State University, focusing on merchandising, textile science, and marketing, then later earned my Master’s in Merchandising while working full time. I held various executive positions with companies including Dillard’s and American Airlines, as well as .com start-ups. I previously led and taught the digital degree program at a major university and ran their digital research center.

My heritage is part Welsh on my mother’s side. My brother says we all get our natural storytelling from that bloodline.

I’m an avid traveler, and some of my favorite destinations are London, Italy, the Cote d’Azur, Thailand, and anywhere with a beach to pull out a good book. After living for a stint in New York City, I’ve spent the majority of my adult life calling myself a proud Texan. Drop me a line or connect with me on Facebook or Instagram; I love meeting and talking with people.
